Loved Ones, I had so much fun last year saluting the Oscars noms for Best Picture in vintage tablecloth prints that I couldn't resist seeing if I could do it again... this year with vintage finds. Adding to the challenge, including
Pink Saturday in the fun. Had to take a few liberties, but then Helen was gonna dot THAT anyway so...
Without further ado or Billy Crystal...

In no Particular Order: The Tree of Life
 |
| Not vintage, but so pretty - Birches in Autumn by Natalie Jones |
Hugo
 |
| Mantle clock handed down from my Mother, moon, vintage poodle pin (I know the dogs in Hugo weren't poodles but he's pink so mind your own beeswax! Yes, beeswax, also not appearing in the movie but if you the picky sort you will be instructed to mind it plenty during this post) |
The Artist
 |
| Art Deco Ice bucket, silent movie review, cutest pink dog on the planet (He does look like Uggo, right? We aren't going to have to go over that beeswax thing again, are we?) |
Extremely Close and Incredibly Loud
 |
| I pinked up the glass apple paperweight a bit, yes it's a cheat but it's gorgeous so... |
Moneyball
 |
| My little collection of lucky old coins, not too old, not so lucky really. The large one coming out of the piggy bank was my father's lucky 1942 Australian penny. I have no baseball vintage, so stop asking where the ball part of Moneyball is. You have to relax. Really. |
The Descendents
 |
| I do have other Hawaiian stuff but for some reason I couldn't find anything but this glass. If you think she's risque from the front, you should see the back view - that's why the teenybopper in red is so wide eyed and the one in pink is calling to tell everyone! |
Warhorse
 |
| Have not see this movie. Will never see this movie. Just thinking about the story makes my heart heavy. On the up side, I got the 50s lamp for $2 at the World's Longest Yard Sale 2 years ago from a lady who used to run a boat bar - why don't they make THAT into a movie? I'd watch it. |
Mdnight in Paris
 |
| On my list to see this movie, think I can squeeze it in before Oscar night? |
The Help
 |
| Pink note scroll typewriter, southern belle, Flowers of the South. Yes, I SHOULD have had something to do with maids or housekeeping or... ugh, really, I had to use what I had around and... well, if you like maids so much hire one named Beeswax and mind her because I am out of here! |
There you have it. I haven't seen them all... have you? But of the ones I have seen, I kinda want The Artist to win. Happy Pink Saturday and have an award winning weekend!

ReplyDeleteThanks! Happy Pink Saturday right back at ya.
DeleteLove, love, love all of your kitschy ceramics! Makes me WANT them.
ReplyDeleteGive me a visit some time - thriftshopcommando.blogspot.com.
Thanks for the visit I am on my way over now - I hope you have cookies!
DeleteMy friend from High School is in the Artist! I haven't seen it yet, but I want to. I saw Moneyball, I think, but maybe not... I dunno. Fun, fun post! I watch the Oscars to see the purdy clothes...that's about it.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool about your friend. Maybe you can't remember if you saw Moneyball because you were hypnotized by Brad Pitt's cuteness.
DeleteOh you are so funny -- what a great post!! Love. it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Laurie!
DeleteHelen, I enjoyed your post. You have a great sense of humor. And the same name as my mother! I just may have snuk a peak at one or two letters. And maybe when she is no longer living I'll feel freer to delve into that bit of history! I have hers to my dad too!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The letters are such a treasure.
DeleteGreat MCM era collection and more. Hoping my piggy bank has enough pennies to make The Artist possible this weekend. Otherwise, I'm batting zero on seeing all. Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED The Artist. Happy Pink Saturday and hope you get to see the movie.
DeleteThe Artist hands down! Both on the big screen and here too! LOVE your setup and well, he does sorta look like Uggie ;- ) GREAT job Dearest Helen! Dang, it musta took you all week to do this! I LOVE all your vintage - you have exquisite taste ma dear! Have a great weekend. BTW - at the risk on exposing my dorkiness to the whole world... what's pink Saturday?
ReplyDeleteLOL - it's a LINK party, click the Pink Saturday link and go see and if you have a pink to feature it is a super way to meet new bloggers.
DeleteVery clever! I think I prefer your version anyhow. Haven't seen any of these but may check them out when they come out on DVD eventually Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteOops, meant to punctuate after eventually. Don't tell my writing students I slipped up. Fifty lashes with a wet noodle. (That's a vintage saying of my Mom's.)
DeletePunctuation is for weekdays! We can relax around here. Have a great weekend, Karen.
DeleteThe only one I've seen is The Help and I loved it! Fun post! Enjoy your weekend! ♥
ReplyDeleteI Keep meaning to see The Help but others in the household keep wanting to see things like Cowboys and Aliens.
DeleteThose are superfun and creative!! Thanks for sharing. Happy Pink Saturday!! ~Lorraine ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so cute I had to follow. Thanks for your visit.
DeleteThat puppy dog is the cutest! My favorite is The Help.
ReplyDeleteThanks. My daughter and I got that years ago and we always called it The World's Cutest Puppy. Dang, I really have to see The Help.
DeleteWow your mothers clock looks amazing and very grand. Loving that little pink dog very cute ;-) I haven't seen the Artist yet but i would love to at some point its just so expensive to go and view a film. Have a great weekend, dee x
ReplyDeleteDee - those mantle clocks must have been quite popular because I've seen a lot of them, they are gorgeous. I always say that's why I don't have one bit of guilt vintage shopping - I go to so few movies, (don't go to bars, get my haircut at Supercuts, use drug store cosmetics) spending money on old hats, jewelry and kitchen kitsch is a bargain compared to to a weekly movie outing!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! And, as usual, you made me laugh. This time it was the beeswax thing. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL - I Love beeswax and beesknees - what WAS the obsession with bees back then?
DeleteWHAT A GREAT PRESENTATION. YOU DO THINGS UP THE RIGHT WAY.
ReplyDeleteThanks - its fun to set up the photo shoots with things that don't whine or kick each other or all those things kids do.
DeleteExcellent! Love this, I can't wait to watch the Oscars tomorrow night. Sadly I haven't seen any of these movies so I can't even make a guess.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen a couple but loved them both. It wasn't a bad year for movies!
DeleteHappy Pink Saturday Helen Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a superb write today. You really outdid yourself and I
am so tickled to see this post. LOVE, LOVE the Oscars.
War House is my favorite, but I also loved The Artist and The Help as well.
I will have my supper early and be ready to sit and watch from start to finish.
I am so excited. This is one of my favorite watches for the year. Can't wait to
see the fashion brought out for the occasion.
Thanks for the wonderful display dear one. Once again, you so outdid yourself.
Love it. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
Thanks for the visit - do you dress up to watch the Red Carpet doings? I Mostly like the clothes and the speeches, could do without the singing and dancing but now that Billy Crystal is back, it should be fun.
DeleteLove your version of the awards! Happy Pink Saturday! ~Diane (I am #21)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday to you too - have a wonderful day.
DeleteAnother fabulous pink I've seen. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe Pianist in Pink, have a great weekend!
Happy Pink Saturday - off to visit pink saturday pals.
DeleteGreat Post!! Helen have you considered writing some material for some of these guys? You are more entertaining then most of the dreary so called jokes we will be subjected to. Thx for sharing

Thanks. I wonder if we can get Billy Crystal (no one is funnier than HIM, though) to work a vintage kitsch theme into the event?

Thanks for stopping by - I loved following you back to your blog. HPS
DeleteI really really want some girly glasses - I saw a gorgeous set at an antiques market but they were too pricey.
ReplyDelete***Faith Hope and Charity Shopping first blogiversary giveaway open now***
I am obsessed with girlie glasses. I have about 10 of them and usually found them tucked into big shelves filled with glasses with Smurfs and superheroes and beer logos on them.
DeleteStopping by for my daily dose of smiling and laughter! You did it again! Would you believe I haven't seen "The Help" yet. I'm cheap. I'm waiting for it to come out so I can rent it...if you tell me that it is already out, then I'll say that I obviously "need some help".
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!!
xo
