I didn't even go shopping on Black Friday!

I didn't even go shopping on Black Friday and it got me anyway! Just went out to lunch around 11 and the next thing I knew...

HIM: I will buy you anything at full price if you just let me leave the mall.
HER: It's beginning to look a lot like diamonds, darling! Let's go!
Back tomorrow with a shopper's problem and practically no help at all.

What? You thought Helen would be acting better because Santa is watching this time of year? They don't call me OLD RELIABLE for nothing. And if you know what's good for you, you won't call her OLD ANYTHING.

  2. Helen, We ate at Subway in town yesterday and it looked deserted. Everyone must have been in Indy or Kokomo...the nearest shopping towns. It was nice to be able to get through town so easily. :):) See you tomorrow...xo, Susie

    1. We went local shopping today and it was very uncrowded. What was crowded was the crafts stores! Home made gifts this year?

    Is it now?

    How about now?

    1. OH no the pressure! What if I don't give an good answer? Will you punch me? Will it forever be known as Black-eye Sunday?

  4. I can hardly stand malls under the best of circumstances. There was no way I was going within 5 miles of one yesterday!

    1. LOL - we stayed away from all that. I got sucked in to things like trying to get normal stuff, like something for dinner. Every effort got turned into an adventure!

  5. We live within a quarter mile of a mall. "Fashion Island." What a stupid name. It attracts massive amounts of people because it is an outdoor mall (I know, everyone east of the Rockies is going "huh?")... and people like to stroll around, look at the tree and see Santa. This time of year, I hate it. Otherwise, it is sort of handy. E.g. need a gift, run across the street to Macy's.

    1. I can't even imagine living that close to a mall this time of year! I do miss how much malls used to decorate - with big themes and lots of flash. Now it's pretty low key, just spend spend spend.

  6. I got caught up in Black Friday traffic once and thought I was going to have to call the rescue squad. I wasn't even going shopping :)

    1. We planned our errands around known traffic spots today - I may not go to Whole Foods again until January!

  7. I thought of you over and over today! My aged aunt who is a serious "collector" of fine hats, clothes and jewelry is moving from her home to another state, and we have been there the last couple of days helping to pack up things to be sold on consignment. I got 7 lovely vintage hats out of the deal for helping. A couple of them look to be straight out of the "Titanic" movie as Rose gets out of the car to board the ship. A couple of them look like Sophia Loren hats from past movies, and the others look like Doris Day herself had worn them! A hat made of nothing but pink ostrich feathers...can you just imagine??!?!!? When I saw the ladies in your first photo on this post, it immediately took my mind to those hats and back to the days when a lady wouldn't be caught dead in public without one! And back to the days when Black Friday didn't play 2nd fiddle to Cyber Monday and such! :-)

    1. Gasp! Now THAT would be better than any shopping spree at a store or mall! Am just enjoying myself just imagining hats for Doris Day!

  8. My Uncle used to say you could call him anything as long as you didn't call him late for dinner! I didn't do Black Friday shopping, either- I end up Black and Blue when I go-xo Diana

    1. Ha! I wouldn't want to be the shopper who tried to get the bargain away from you - I bet you can hold your own.

  9. Too funny, Helen! I did go shopping for all of you that don't embrace that experience. I had a wonderful time. . .it's pure eye candy and I stayed relatively focused.
    Blessings to you!
