I mean, Halloween party.
Well, it happened again this year and not only is it rotten because I have to make a presentation tomorrow but because I was all set to do a little Christmas shopping this weekend!
Not sure why but this year the spirit has come over Helen early - maybe it was finding this treasure this week.
Or Maybe it was leafing through This:

The lady who sold it to me said it was the one her own kids had picked presents from!
If you were like me as a kid

and let's face it, you probably weren't but I am sure you worked through that by now and gone on to live an almost normal life (I begged my mom every year for a costume from Sears)
The arrival of the Sears Wish Book was it's own Christmas tradition. My brother and I poured over it and each picked one thing per page. Which we never got.

Thanks for bringing THAT up!

I actually bought this from Sears last week for our Christmas Village!
Have a great weekend.

That '74 Sears wishbook looks a little dog-eared. See ya round Pink Saturday ~

Yep but the pages have lots of gems - bell bottom jackpot!
DeleteOh- I hope you feel better soon. We loved those Sears Wish catalogs when I was a kid...and when MY kids were little. It was sad when they stopped publishing them. Blessings and good health-xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks so far it's just a cold (frantically knocking wood) so it's manageable
DeleteNo wonder I am a traumatized adult - our Sears catalogue in Canada didn't have those costumes in it. I'm SURE it didn't because I surely would have been a Planet-of-the-Ape gal throughout high school. Sorry about your cold. Stop holding those germ fests. Your next party should be an immunization fest, how boring, or not... "More drugs, anyone?"
ReplyDeleteSince we don't have little ones around I forget they are crawling with disease. I love them but really, they should be kept behind glass or something.
DeleteI thought that was a Cher costume until I saw the boy beside her.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT was a scary movie - Planet of the Chers!
DeleteI am hoping you feel better soon. Love your finds we use to get that catalog too and you are right I never got all that I picked out but what I got was always just right.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Oh I got plenty! But I think we usually picked out BIG things from the Wish Book - Banana seat bicycle with pink tires anyone?
DeleteSorry you're under the weather. I've heard that a little honey (and a lot of Jack Daniels) works wonders for what ails you.
ReplyDeleteI think I can manage that - do you think it works if you don't have honey?
DeleteOh how I loved seeing the Sears Wishbook! Loved getting the Penney, Wards and Sears Christmas books, the good ole days!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe those days are gone. What a thrill it was.
DeleteJosie has already been circling the Target Christmas catalog with purple and red markers. It's not quite the same as the Sears catalog. Such sweet memories...love your Santa light. Totally fabulous.
ReplyDeleteOooh, the Toys R Us one came yesterday and I wished I Had little ones!
DeleteDear Helen, feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteNo gun play? That's like not getting the pony you luuuuuv from Santa! Oh, and I remember that Santa light, my grandmum had it's twin!
Will get your answer up tomorrow, even if I have to go into work to post it :)
DeleteBeautiful outfit and costumes! Happy pink Saturday.
ReplyDeletePink at my page.
Have a lovely weekend.
Hi Helen! Looking at those costumes, I would choose the ballerina. I am still a ballerina wannabe. I hope that you feel better soon. If it helps, I am your newest follower. Stop by for a visit sometime soon. No one is sick at my house, I promise!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
You should get yourself a ballerina costume. It's never too late to live the dream.
DeleteLovin' your cute new Christmas light! I swear I remember that Sears Catalog, kinda cool. Hope you feel better soon:@)
ReplyDeleteThanks - no voice, aches, sniffles, but more upset about lack of internet!
DeleteOh, I hope you are feeling better. So, do tell...what did you do a presentation on?! When did you say you are coming to Colorado? =0)
ReplyDeleteLOL - I was talking about the new dynamics of publishing. Mostly I asked people what they wanted to write and told them what to do to help them get there.
DeleteNow that brought back memories! I don't think we ever got what we picked out either.
ReplyDeleteWe had huge Christmasses but I think we must have picked stuff our folks thought was a bad idea.
DeleteI'm sorry...I must have missed something. What exactly is wrong with gun play? :-) Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, and I hope you're feeling back in the pink in time for Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteLOL - gun play in the right context but in polite company? Helen insists we refrain.
DeleteI think I must have attended your germ party. UGH!!! I loved when the Sears cataloque came out. I, too, would pour over it and wait to see what I got that was not in there. I think I'm still mad. Time to get over it at my age? I don't know. We'll see what I get this year :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
Get better. Lets not invite germs next time.
DeleteHello Helen:
ReplyDeleteYes, we think that we can safely say that we were not at all like you as children. Strange how one can become closer as adults....!!!!! Get well soon!
LOL - so true. But then I was an old soul always. I wanted that nurse costume from sears. Mostly for the cape and hat. I can see you wanting those.
DeleteI do hope you feel better soon... like, by tomorrow! I, too, remember pouring over the Sears catalog! How funny...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Delete"Oh no!" I hope you feel better quickly.
ReplyDeleteI love old catalogues they are so fun to look through, but then it upsets me when i realize I can't order any of it. *LOL*
Thank you. I would love to order some of these goodies - but it does give me ideas of what to look for in thrift shops.
DeleteAh, the Wish Book. My sisters and I pored over it as well. Hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I wonder if I can wish for a quick recovery from Sears?
DeleteThanks all - sorry for the lack of responses. Came home to NO INTERNET!!!! Ai yiyi! Technician out tomorrow. Until then, checking in when I can get away to Starbucks or Barnes and Noble.
