SNOW DAY!

My apologies, but the question about catfishing on line will have to wait until Monday. Today is a SNOW DAY here in Helen's World!

The view from my back window this very morning! For those barniacs out there, yes, that's a real farm back there and a couple of real barns. The perfect pic for Pink Saturday!

Our flurries turned into 2 inches of snow and here in KY that's enough to close schools and cancel meetings.
It's so pretty Helen might just run outside and build herself a snowman!

Helen's snow adventure re-inacted by vintage cuties.

Naw, that ain't gonna happen. It's so cold the snowman decided to come inside. So Helen dressed him up in vintage Vera, of course!

Spoiled for choice - a floppy bow, a premade bow that pins on that looks like it was yanked straight off a  flight attendant (marked Vicky Davis for Vera Companies) and a sweet gift from a dear friend, a classic Vera scarf.

Waking up to temps below zero probably had as much or more to do with the desire to stay inside and drink hot chocolate.

We were with ya right up until the 'hot chocolate'.

Or better yet, an excuse to break out this vintage tablecloth I just found super cheap and have a feast.

This one's for you Vintage Coconut! But also just right for Thrifty Things Friday.
Back Monday with some advice you can take to heart. In honor of Valentine's Day, Helen will be talking about what makes the world go 'round the next couple of weeks.

Marketing?

LOVE! What makes Helen an expert? Well, she has written for Harlequin for 16 years and knows tons of Romance writers. But more importantly, she has recently found a BUNCH of Valentine-y stuff she wants to show off. Starting with a 1950s February Saturday Evening Post (and a whole stash of new (old) magazines, plus this gorgeous magazine rack)

I no longer have to coax Miss Moxie to model for photos, as soon as the camera comes out and I aim it at something vintage, she shows up. I think the celebrity may have gone to her head. Well, at least that means there is SOMETHING in there.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

  1. Hello Helen:
Oh, we should very much like some more snow. We have endured wind and rain and some not very serious flurries but the really deep, bury a small child snow has not yet happened and we are fearing that it may be too late. Can you arrange for some of your white stuff [not the china variety] to be sent over here?

    1. We hardly have enough to spare, I'm afraid. We used to get big snows, not every year but every few years. We have films of our cocker spaniel jumping into drifts and disappearing so I know I'm not making this up. I have been saving up books and DVDs for a big snow in that seems will never happen!

  2. Dusting of snow here in TN, enough to make me want blankets of it. I'm pea-green with envy over your lobster tablecloth and the view out your window of snow, snow, snow.

    1. Turned out my daughter had to work and somebody had to drive her, then they sent her home so we went shopping! That'll teach ol' man winter.

  4. No snow here in Texas, but our 75 degree winter has given way to temperatures in the 30s, which is cold enough for me!

Your snow photo is beautiful! And I bet Vintage Coconut will offer to arm wrestle you for that tablecloth. :)

    1. It's so cold even being inside isn't warm. Hmmm, do I dare fiddle with the thermostat when Hubby Hartman isn't looking?

  7. Did you plan that your Hawaiian punch photo and your muscle photo on the sidebar of your blog would show up like that? That's cool. Enjoyed reading the text of your muscle photo too.
Your pink snow caught my attention b/c I'm posting on pink snow too -- differently of course, but pink and snow!
    Enjoyed the captions and photos.
    Happy Pink Saturday!
Stop and see my pink snow if you have the chance.
    Thanks, Jenn

  9. Catfishing? AND love...can't hardly wait til next week! Happy you got a snow day - even happier it wasn't more than 2" (I just had all sorts of jokes come to mind - ARGH). The lobster tablecloth is to die for...I actually had some fabric that was the spitting image of that a few years back...used it as a lining in a purse, just because I could, and it rocked so HARD!!!! Happy weekend, Helen - stay warm! Tanya

    1. I KNOW - I only did 1 for that series but I did like writing for the Grace Chapel series and yes, I think some of my younger fans were in their 80s for those! I hope you enjoy the book - it's older and I have updated them for ebooks but the paper ones may seem dated :)

I love a barn and whenever we travel those are favorites of mine to capture with the camera! Enjoy your week and thanks for the share! Stay warm and cozy!

  17. HOLY Crustacean's! Is that tablecloth EVER fantastic. It's surely something to clap your claws over!
AS SOON AS I even seen a glimpse of Lobster I had a huge grin on my face.
I hope your serving up some crab cakes and shrimp!

Kitty poses so cute. My dog likes to do the same thing when I take pics. It doesn't turn out so well as he usually sticks his butt in the photos. =/
