I just have to ask....

Loved Ones, is it a case of fashion fast forward thinking or of a life gone weirdly off course that I bought these earrings at a flea mall and wore the orange ones to meet my grown up kids for lunch and neither of them so much as COMMENTED, much less LAUGHED that I had them on?

It may not show but this suckers are BIG - 1980s Hair and shoulder pad BIG - the ones I had on touched my shoulders!

Maybe next Saturday lunch date I'll dress Hubby Hartman up like THIS:

Paging Ron Burgundy, your wardrobe is ready.

And see if they notice. Oh, let's get real. They clearly think our closets are portals to another time, and no longer even notice what we wear.

Maybe I should hit them where it counts - Retro Lunch, anyone?

Yes, it says Hot, Succulant Bologna Cups with soup flavored filling. Now that you've seen it, you can't UNSEE it.

Have a delicious week, Loved Ones.

    1. Let me know how that turns out - or should I say WHO that turns inside out?

  3. I'm dying to have a "cook what your mother made" potluck -- specifically recipes of the '50s and '60s served up on vintage table cloths or outside with tiki lights and drinks from Trader Vic's! I'd say your kids either know you well or pretty funky themselves!

    1. Love to see the pot luck dishes you'd come up with! They never cease to amaze and nauseate me.

  4. Oh my, my husband actually HAD a light blue "leisure suit" as they were called and we thought it looked great! What Were we thinking???????? But the Bologna cups are a whole 'nuther issue...never heard of them, never ate them, glad I haven't on both counts.

    1. Those leisure suits had to come in the weirdest colors, didn't they? Pale blue, mint green, orange and mustard yellow... Bologna cups only come in one color, ugly.

  5. I'd have killed for those 1980s clip-on's back in the day! x

  6. Perhaps it was one of those moments where if they didn't look or comment about the insane orange starfish earnings their mother was wearing it really wouldn't be true. Because if we don't acknowledge something it just isn't really there right?

    1. I wish - when I finally asked them about it they rolled their eyes and said they thought I thought I looked good so they didn't say anything.

  7. Ha ha, I remember buying my hubby a leisure suit. He never wore it, which I suspect was a good thing! And the bologna cups made me laugh! I'll be thinking about those all day long! Too funny.

    1. Hubby likes fried bologna, in theory. I've never seen him eat it or make it. Or wear a leisure suit.

  8. OMWord! When we were young latch key kids I would make my sister bologna bowls we filled with whatever we could find. Then again, Hubby and I made the octopus spaghetti hot dogs just for us a bit ago.

    1. I so want to make that spaghetti! I did make the hot dogs cut up in mini corn muffins but they were not a big hit. You are the 1st person to say they had ever those cups.

  9. can we ever erase that from our minds??? how funny....I think you both should really pull out all of the stops....did you have your hair teased a foot up? ha! My husband's father was quite the 80's fashion guy....NOT! This Italian loved mixing his stripes and plaids and his hair was...well, wild (ie. Don King )Maybe that would be a look to go for...shock and awe :P

    1. I can get some air in my hair but Hubby doesn't have enough hair for puff :)

  10. Oh, that hair!!!!!!! That is SO funny! Oh, my gosh! I had forgotten just how bad the guys looked back then. Of course, we all thought they were just SO cute with hairdos like that. Ha! Double ha!! And I wish the h-e-double hockey sticks I would put curled bologna with soup in the middle in my mouth! Not in THIS life!!! Hold onto those earrings. They'd make a great weapon in a pinch! Kind of like something out of a James Bond movie! :-) Happy Easter, darlin'!

  11. Oi! I know guys who still whip out the old leisure suit...and not for costume parties either. Bologna cups? That made me chuckle and cringe at the same time; you've paid me out for my atrocious puns the other day.

  12. Oh boy, does this date me! My husband not only had the leisure jacket, but pants to match as well. He also at one time had long hair, but now most of it is gone. When I was in grade school, the bologna cups were called meat boats. They had mashed potatoes in them.

    Happy Easter!

  13. I do think, at some point, our grown kids just give up on us. We're lost causes, and they feel they just have to humor us. :)

And, really...bologna cups filled with something gooey and souplike? That's gaggier than some of the Jello dishes you've posted...and that's saying a lot.

  14. Bologna cups - hmmm. Do you use a dinner fork or luncheon fork? What would Emily Post recommend, I wonder?

    Very clever, as always!
