This Island Earth!

Loved Ones - it's time to celebrate with gratitude that wonderful round thing that gives us sustenance!

It's a natural mistake, red center, axis, keeps Helen grounded....

No that OTHER round thing that...

My childhood globe from when my folks bought Encyclopedia Britannica. Not saying Helen is old but many of the countries no longer exist, and neither does Encyclopedia Britannica. At least it wasn't FLAT and balanced on the backs of turtles.

Yes, THAT one.

Happy Earth Day! I'm spending it working and wondering why I decided to undertake a DIY project - creating a kitchen island!

I still haven't hauled the outdoor Christmas or Halloween stuff to the attic. But I am confident I can build a kitchen island in a week! Behold the power of positive drinking!

Later this week I will be sharing what I found on my trip with some advice on how to be the hostess with the mostest.

The MOSTEST what? People talking about the spectacle she made of herself tackling a DIY project? Because we think Helen would be grand at THAT!

Until then - some sights from around my house to show my appreciation for all the beauty of the Earth.

  1. I think the olive is perfect -- it's round(ish) and it's GREEN!

    Happy Earth Day!

  2. Love your cat! Beautiful! Happy Earth day! I will be doing some cooking today, baking bread for the week and roasting a chicken for chicken salad sandwiches. Maybe I will try to recycle something and join the fun! Hey, wait, I am recycling a chicken, that counts, right???

    1. I have always thought martinis looks way yummier than they actually taste. It's probably the olive.

    1. We love garlic stuffed olived, though others around us may not when we breathe on them! The kitty really thinks she is going to leap in the air and snatch a birdie but her big ol' belly tells us she's not gonna do it.

  7. Happy Earth day! That cat is plotting btw; and quite possibly wondering how olive-stuffed bird would taste.

    1. She is a killer - mostly moles, which you have to admit are easy prey. A cat someone dumped at a park that we took in, she is a stalker.

  8. Since it's turned cold again, I love the spring photos. But I love the caption about the holiday decorations and "power of positive drinking" best. I got a great laugh out of that.

  11. Hope you ROCKED Earth Day! And, I'm so VERY impressed - I know someone who can make a kitchen island, in a WEEK, no less. No earthly idea HOW, unless it involves lots of olives nightly, but I have no doubt that YOU will get the job done - the power of positive drinking prevails! Happy Hump Day, Helen - XOXO

    1. Thanks much - had a paint issue - the offspring did not like Pukey Pea Green as they called my choice they then picked out what they call Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream Green. It's retro aqua-green. Works for me. Painting with high gloss takes longer then you'd guess. Many coats, much waiting.

    1. I'm not a good photographer. I am someone who saved up to buy a good camera. My camera is a good photographer :) Also, I spent years feeding birds until now many of them just stare at me to see if I have food so I can snap them!
